The Provincial Junior Hockey League has started the Conference championship playoffs.

Division playoffs finished with the final game on Monday, April 8, leaving eight teams still remaining in the League.

It didn’t take long for the League to move into the next series of playoffs. The first Conference series game was played on April 9

between Grimsby and New Hamburg.

The Conference championship best-of-seven series will result in four championship teams who will then go on to compete for the provincial Schmaltz Cup.

It has not yet been announced if the Schmalz Cup will take on a tournament format like that past two seasons or play a traditional best-of-seven series as in previous years.

Conference series:

North Conference – Alliston Hornets versus Hanover Barons

East Conference – Clarington Eagles versus Napanee Raiders

South Conference – Grimsby Peach Kings versus New Hamburg Firebirds

West Conference – Thamesford Trojans versus Lakeshore Canadiens
