Road closure for well construction

August 27, 2021   ·   0 Comments

Please be advised that a portion of George Street in Alliston, from 50m west of Doner Street to 80m west of Doner Street, will be closed from September 7 to November 26 to allow for the drilling and testing of a new municipal production well at the Hillcrest Well site at 47 George Street in Alliston.

The well drilling operations will create elevated construction noise associated the daily drilling and testing procedures. As such, the contractor will be required to manage and minimize excessive noise levels during construction.

Work at site will be from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday to Friday, and, subject to approval, Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., in keeping with the Town’s Noise By-law.

During the period of the temporary road closure no through traffic would be permitted through the construction zone but local traffic will be allowed to access driveways on both sides of the actual road closure.

The contractor will be erecting Advance Notice Signage on William Street and Doner Street to advise the community and motorists using that roadway about the upcoming road closure.

“You may experience some delays and inconveniences during this time, and, in this regard, we ask for your cooperation and patience,” says the Town. “We also request that when walking or driving around the construction area that you follow and obey the construction traffic signage for your safety and for the safety of the workers.”

Should you have any questions and concerns related to this project, please do not hesitate to contact the Engineering Department at 705-435-3900 or engineering@newtecumseth.ca.
