The Simcoe County District School Board has approved a balanced budget of $768 million for the 2025-26 school year in compliance with the Ministry of Education’s mandate.
The budget was approved by the Board of Trustees at its May 28 meeting.
The budget focuses on meeting the needs of students guided by the board’s Strategic Priorities.
“Developing and maintaining a balanced and compliant budget is a collaborative effort between the Board of Trustees, director of education, senior administrative team, and financial reporting team,” said Corry Van Nispen, the school board’s superintendent of business and facility services. “Fiscal responsibility and accountability have long been a focus for the SCDSB, positioning the board well to operate effectively with a conservative budget.”
Funding is allocated to school boards from the Ministry of Education using a funding model designed to be easily understandable and strengthening accountability, while balancing the need for flexibility, based on local school board needs.
The initiative links directly to the SCDSB Strategic Priorities in the areas of well-being, diversity, equity and inclusion, community, and excellence in teaching and learning.
