The entire North Dufferin Baseball League (NBDL) senior division season will come down to two teams battling it out for this year’s Strother Cup championship in a series that will get underway this weekend.
The defending champion New Lowell Knights will meet the Bolton Brewers to decide which team is the 2026 senior champion.
New Lowell will arrive at the final series as the league’s second-place team this year.
The Knights led the first half of the season in first place before being eclipsed by the Owen Sound Baysox, who finished the season in the top spot.
After winning their opening round series, the Knights were up against the Ivy Rangers in the second round.
They dispatched the Rangers in a five-game series that ended with an 11-6 New Lowell win in the final match-up.
It was a bit of a surprise that Bolton will be in the final series this year. The Bolton team had a come-from-behind win when they went up against the first-place Owen Sound Baysox in the second round of playoffs. The Brewers finished the regular season as the fifth-place team.
The Baysox were expected to win the series, but the Bolton team put in a huge effort, winning the first two games and then wrapping it up with a 7-2 win in Game 4.
The final series will be a best-of-seven contest expected to produce a lot of good games, with highly skilled players doing their best in the bid to win this year’s title.
