The Senior’s Connecting Fair hosted by CONTACT Community Services provided older residents in the area with information about services and activities in the region.

The Fair was held at the Adjala-Tosorontio Municipal Building on Thursday, May 29.

It was a well-attended event with different groups presenting information on how they can help seniors in the area find needed services or recreation activities to stay busy.

A chair yoga demonstration invited visitors to take a seat and learn how yoga can help keep you healthy and active.

“This is the second time we’ve done this,” explained Brenda Pufek, manager of community engagement and development at CONTACT Community Services. “We’re a travelling show. We’ve done Essa Township and now we’re doing Adjala-Tosorontio this year. We pull together a wonderful group of local organizations that have a focus on helping seniors. As seniors arrive, they visit all vendors and learn about their services, and put their name in for a draw.”

The services that were offered were from a variety of different organizations.

“CONTACT is here presenting today,” Pufek said. “We have Matthews House Hospice, MP Terry Dowdall’s office is here as is MP Brian Saunderson’s office. We’re going to be doing chair yoga, with a terrific instructor. Everyone is getting information about what is happening in the community.”

Many of the services organizations at the event are geared toward seniors and senior activities.

The event was a good opportunity for seniors in the region to learn about the different services and activities that have a focus on seniors in the community.
