The County of Simcoe is seeking up to seven qualified volunteers to help ensure free and fair municipal elections.
The Joint Compliance Audit Committee is required by the Municipal Electors Act. It will give volunteers the opportunity to make a significant contribution to their community as a member of the committee.
The Joint Compliance Audit Committee will convene starting fall 2022 to help ensure equity by reviewing potential breaches of election campaign and advertising finance rules as reported by electors within the County’s 16 member municipalities and the City of Orillia.
Committee members will receive per diem compensation for their time.
To qualify to join the Committee, applicants must reside within one of the 16 member municipalities or the city of Orillia.
Members of the Committee cannot be employees or officers of the local municipality or local board, members of Council or a local board, a candidate in the 2022 Municipal Election, or any persons who are registered third parties of the 2022 Municipal Election.
Interested applicants should submit a letter of interest outlining your qualifications to the County Clerk before July 8, 2022.
Knowledge of accounting, auditing, and legal, as well as knowledge of campaign financing rules would be an asset.
Applicants can submit their letter to: County Clerk, 1110 Highway 26, Midhurst, On, L9X 1N6. Or by e-mail at clerks@simcoe.ca
