Simcoe Makers Market host first event at Murphy’s Farm

June 9, 2022   ·   0 Comments

On Sunday, May 29, Murphy’s Farm hosted its first Simcoe Makers Market of the season – a day of family fun on the farm for everyone.

Participating were 40 local artisan vendors offering original handmade items, delicious foods and snacks. There was also free face painting for the kids, and the Murphy’s Family Fun Yard – with sandboxes, gravel pits, an obstacle course, playground and bouncing pillow – was open too.

The first twenty-five people to arrive received a swag bag filled with goodies.

Lisa Culmone, organizer of Simcoe Makers Market (SMM), told The Times she is excited to come back to Murphy’s on July 31st to celebrate the first anniversary of the Market.

“SMM is an artisan-based craft market, which means all items are handcrafted by the vendors themselves. All vendors are local small businesses with incredible talent to be showcased. My goal is to help these small businesses as much as I can by offering these markets for them to attend and gain exposure in our community,” said Culmone. “I will be hosting a series of markets at Murphy’s Farm – along with some other venues as well. Specifically for Murphy’s Farm, we have May 29, June 26 and June 31 booked in at the moment with more dates to be announced.”

At the June 26 Market, Culmone encourages people to “bring the whole family and support local artists.”

Plus, for this event, she has included a local food truck – The Lori Go Round.

“While shopping, you will also find the incredible Magic Ian strolling around performing magic and making free balloon animals for the kids between 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.,” said Culmone. “And don’t miss a special live performance from local 17-year-old singing and acoustic sensation Georgia Bubel at noon.”

Families will still have access to the Murphy’s Fun Farm Yard by paid admission, and the first 25 to arrive will receive swag bags.

At the upcoming July 31st Market Culmone encourages community members to come out and celebrate SMM’s First Birthday.

“On this occasion, we’ll have a street brew coffee truck there – ready to serve up delicious iced coffees and lattes, perfect to cool you down and keep you going on a hot summer’s day!” said Culmone. “Blitzfull Treats Fun Foods will also be joining us, serving up delicious ice creams, blizzards, sundaes and hotdogs. Don’t miss out on their delicious treats.”

Magic Ian strolling will be there again too, performing magic and making free balloon animals for the kids between 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. He’ll perform a free live magic show at 1:45 p.m.

“There will also be free face painting for the littles between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., and Georgia Bubel sings for us again at noon,” said Culmone.
