Simcoe Manor redevelopment project gets long-term care bed approval

A business case for redevelopment of Simcoe Manor was presented to Simcoe Count in June 2020.

The business case outlined a detailed redevelopment master plan which called for the existing 126 bed long-term care home to included 160 beds.

The plan also calls for the redevelopment of the supportive housing facility and adult day program space.

Included in the plan is additional seniors housing and services to provide a full campus continuum modeled after Georgian Village located in Penetanguishene.

The County receive approval from the Ministry of Long-Term Care, March 18, for an additional 34 long-term care beds in response to the County’s application.

Council approved staff proceeding with the appropriate planning approvals on May 25.

The planning approval takes into consideration design, tendering, contract award, site preparation, and construction of the Simcoe Manor and Village redevelopment, and the pursuit of federal and provincial funding that may be made available that can be applied directly to the project.
