The Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation has announced the launch of the Thanks A Million! match campaign.

The campaign is the result of a gift from The Morningview Foundation.

From April 1 to September 30, new donations to the Foundation’s “Because of you, we can” campaign in support of the hospital redevelopment and critical equipment needs, will be matched by the The Morningview Foundation, dollar-for-dollar, up to $1 million.

“The Morningview Foundation believe our growing community needs a modernized healthcare facility to meet our needs, and with a redeveloped hospital comes the need to purchase equipment,” said a spokesperson from The Morningview Foundation. “We hope this gift match inspires our community to rise to the occasion and help the Foundation reach their $43 million goal. We are all invested in the success of a revitalized hospital and we are proud to be a part of this historic moment for South Simcoe.”

The “Because of you, we can” Campaign is the largest campaign in the SMHF’s history.

“When I first learned of this remarkable gift, I was overwhelmed with gratitude. It is an honour that The Morningview Foundation chose to make this generous commitment” said Mary Thomas, CEO, SMHF. “A donation of this magnitude will have a tremendous impact on the redevelopment of Stevenson and ultimately advancing patient care for our community. A successful matching gift campaign like this will bring us two million dollars closer to our goal, which is incredibly exciting. We are absolutely moved by the Morningview Foundation’s generosity.”

Hospital president and CEO Jody Levac said the matching campaign will inspire others to give.

“This is an outstanding commitment from The Morningview Foundation towards the Capital Campaign and the redevelopment of our hospital,” Mr. Levac said. “This is the kind of support that empowers others to give and will help us reach our goal. Because of local businesses, individuals and families and organizations like The Morningview Foundation, I am confident that we will get there and build a revitalized hospital that this community needs and deserves.”
