SMH opens COVID-19, Cold & Flu Clinic – COVID testing available

Stevenson Memorial Hospital now has clinic for those who may have COVD-19, cold, or flu.

The new clinic opened on Wednesday, February 16, in partnership with community physicians.

The clinic is available for anyone who is experiencing mild to moderate or worsening symptoms of COVID-19 or flu, and would like to receive in-person care.

It should be noted this is not a COVID-19 assessment centre for PCR testing.

Possible symptoms that may require treatment include, cough, fever, sore throat, runny nose, sinus pain, and loss of taste or smell, or other cold of flu symptoms.

If symptoms are severe, including severe difficulty breathing or chest pain, you should go to the nearest Emergency Department or call 911.

The clinic is open Wednesday and Friday, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., and you must call to book a same-day appointment. You can book an appointment by calling 249-501-0383.

For safety purposes, patients are asked to stay in their car upon arrival call the clinic to inform staff that you have arrived before entering.

COVID-19 Testing

Individuals in need of a PCR COVID-19 test who meet the provincial guidelines for eligibility can book an appointment at the hospital’s COVD-19 Assessment Centre.

To be eligible for PCR test, you must meet one of the following criteria: Patient-facing healthcare worker; Staff, residents, essential care providers, and visitors in hospitals and congregate living settings including long-term care, retirement homes; First Nation elder care lodges; group homes shelters, hospices, temporary foreign worker settings and correctional institutions; household members of workers in high-risk settings.

Individuals with symptoms consistent with COVID-19 are presumed positive and they should follow isolation and self-monitoring guidelines.

The Assessment Centre is open Mondays, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and Wednesdays and Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
