The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 329 Tottenham hosted speech winners from local schools on Saturday, February 9.
Speakers in three categories – Primary, Junior, and Intermediate – faced off to score points awarded by a panel of judges on a number of factors, including topic and overall presentation style.
“It was especially difficult to decide the winners this year,” said Debbie Hill, Youth and Education Chair. “The point spread between the first and fourth place winners was very, very close.”
Awards were presented by Hill, and District Youth Education Chair, Donna Chamberlain.
And the winners are:
Primary
1st Place – Alice, Tottenham Public School, ‘Speeches’
2nd Place – Stella, Tottenham Public School, ‘Walt Disney’
Junior
1st Place – Samantha, St. James, ‘A child’s life in the 1920s’
2nd Place – Tayo, Tottenham Public School, ‘The Brain’
3rd Place – Violet, Tottenham Public School, ‘Sea Turtles’
4th Place – Leandro, Father F.X. O’Reilly, ‘Queen – the band’
