As summer approaches, there are plenty of ways to stay cool and have some fun during the warmer weather.

Beginning on May 15, the Town of New Tecumseth’s four splash pads will be open. The water jets and fountains are a fun way to cool off and enjoy an afternoon.

Remember to bring your sunscreen and water shoes.

Also beginning on May 15, the Tottenham Conservation Area will be open to visitors from 8 a.m. to 8 pm. daily. This includes the Conservation Area beach.

To be safe, you should check with the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit beach rating during the summer months before your visit.

The Health Unit regularly tests water at beaches across the region and will post warnings about water quality if necessary.

In addition to swimming, you can bring your canoe or pedal boat to explore the Conservation Area pond.

There is also a popular 18-hole disc golf course with disc rentals available.

Keep in mind that the disc golf course will be closed during the Tottenham Bluegrass Festival and the Canada Day long weekend due to increased park visitor numbers.

The outdoor Rotary Pool in Riverdale Park, Alliston, will be open from June 29 to Aug. 31, offering a range of programs and drop-in sessions.

You can take swimming lessons, join a class, or enjoy a leisurely swim.

There will be plenty of things to do this summer around town, so make the best of the season.
