The Tottenham Steam recorded their first win of the season when the Toronto Predators came to the Tottenham Community Centre area on Monday, Oct. 3.
The Steam have had a frustrating start to the 2016/17 season including two overtime losses that gave them a point for each game.
Monday’s game was tied at one at the end of the first period.
Tottenham’s Viacheslav Chegrintcev notched the game opener 16 minutes into the first frame.
Toronto took a lead on a power play early in the second period.
Viacheslav stepped up in the second from scoring his second of the game mid-way through the period with a shorthanded effort that made it a 2-2 game.
Viacheslav followed up with goal number three for the hattrick four minutes late to give the Steam a one goal lead.
The Predators responded with a late period goal that made it a 3-3 tie going into the final 20 minutes of play.
The third period ended in a 5-5 tie.
The Steam’s Matthew Fornari notched an early Tottenham marker.
That was followed by two more Predators goals.
The Steam were back in the game with one an a-half minutes left on the clock when Jonathan DaSilva scored to even it up and force an overtime period.
The Steam left the the ice with their first win of the game when DaSilva notched the winner in OT to give Tottenham the 6-5 win.
The Steam will back on home ice this Saturday (Oct. 8) when they will host the Toronto Attack.
Game time is 7:30 p.m.
