It’s National Infection Prevention and Control Week, and Stevenson Memorial Hospital staff, physicians, and volunteers are taking part in its annual Flu Vaccine Clinic facilitated by the hospital’s Occupational Health & Safety Team.
As part of the clinic, COVID-19 vaccines are also available for hospital staff.
“It’s important to us that our staff have access to these vaccines to ensure that they are protecting themselves against the spread of viruses that are prevalent this time of year,” said Julia Mullen, vice president of clinical and chief nursing executive. “We want everyone to have protection against viruses, especially our staff, so they can continue to provide excellent care to our patients and ensure that their families, our community and our most vulnerable patients remain safe.”
Additional infection prevention and safety measures at the hospital require wearing masks in most hospital areas, including the waiting room and during patient care interactions with staff and physicians. Hand sanitation is also required at the main entrance as well as for visitors upon entering and leaving a patient’s room.
As of Oct. 30, 2023, flu vaccines will be available for the public at participating pharmacies, through primary care providers (family doctor or nurse practitioner) or local public health clinics.
