Stevenson Memorial Hospital’s COVID-19, cold, and flu clinic will close its doors after the last day of operation on Friday, Mar. 31.
With the demand for COVID-19 support stabilizing, the decision was made to close the doors after three years of operation. The centre started as the COVID-19 Assessment Centre, then added a cold and flu clinic in February 2022.
“I am very proud of the service we provided at our COVID-19 Assessment Center and COVID-19, Cold & Flu Clinic to our community during the course of the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Jody Levac, president and CEO of SMH. “It was quite the journey and undertaking, but knowing how much this supported our community and Emergency Department during such uncertain and challenging times gives me a sense of pride.”
In total, over 37,000 COVID-19 tests were completed over the course of three years, with numerous reductions and expansions of operations to meet demand.
“I thank the staff and community physicians for supporting the program who have worked tirelessly to provide testing support and COVID assessment to individuals and families in need of health care services,” Mr. Levac said.
