An auction that allowed residents to bid on the opportunity to name a street in New Tecumseth has raised $14,400 for the Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation.
The auction, named Streets for Stevenson, was done through an online platform with open bidding from Jan. 20 to Mar. 3, 2022.
The fundraiser provided an opportunity to hour the legacy of a family member or someone special who has roots in New Tecumseth.
“We are excited for the people and families who successfully bid on the Streets for Stevenson and thank them for their generosity towards our community hospital,” said Mary Thomas, CEO of Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation. “This was an exciting way to fundraise within South Simcoe and surrounding areas, to help bring awareness to the ‘Because of you, we can, Campaign’ here at SMH, and highlight some of the history her in New Tecumseth.”
The over $14,000 in donations came from three street naming opportunities – one street in each town of Tottenham, Beeton, and Alliston.
The $43 million “Because of you, we can” redevelopment campaign is the largest campaign in the hospital’s history. It will be used to purchase essential equipment, upgrade technology, and complete critical renovations essential to the transformation and redevelopment of Steven Memorial Hospital.
