Stunt driving, impaired driving charges laid

The Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers have laid multiple charges relating to an impaired and stunt driving investigation during the early hours of Sunday, June 16.

Shortly before 3:00 a.m. an officer from the Nottawasaga Detachment was conducting speed enforcement on County Rd. 10 in Essa.

The subject vehicle was travelling at a high rate of speed recorded at 157km/h in an 80km/h zone.

The vehicle was stopped, as a result of the investigation officers arrested the driver for stunt driving and impaired driving.

The male a 31-year-old from Palgrave was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Failure or refusal to comply with Demand.
  • Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform Stunt- excessive speed.
  • Speeding 50+km/h over limit
  • G1 Licence holder unaccompanied by qualified driver
  • G1 Licence holder drive at unlawful hour
  • Novice driver – B.A.C above zero
  • Failure to surrender documents.

The male was released with a future court date. 

None of the listed charges have been proven in court.
