The Tec-We-Gwill Women’s Institute have a history of helping where they can, and an initiative that was started several years ago was carried out again this year.

The Women’s Institute delivered special packages to first responders, including firefighters, police, and paramedics.

Each package contains a small teddy bear with a matching blanket and a children’s book, as simple gifts intended to bring comfort to children during difficult and frightening times.

This initiative was started over 25 years ago by the Federated Women’s Institutes of Ontario in recognition of the FWIO’s anniversary on Feb. 19.

This year’s delivery was delayed due to challenging winter weather, but they made good on their efforts on Wednesday, Oct. 14.

The group delivered more than 30 parcels to the dedicated groups who will distribute them to children and families in need – particularly those with young children facing a crisis.

The Women’s Institute thanks all first responders for the compassion, courage, and care they provide to their communities.
