The Tottenham Titans Midget team (U18) now have a solid first place in the standings in the South Simcoe Minor Baseball League standings after winning over the Bradford Storm on Tuesday, August 3, on their home diamond at the Tottenham Community Centre.
The Titans are undefeated after seven games.
Tuesday’s game got off to a high scoring start in the first couple of innings with the Storm taking an 8 – 4 lead in the second inning.
The Titans fought back and tied the game in the third inning when the drew a walk with the bases loaded.
Keeping the bats going in the later innings, the Titans managed to load the bases several times as the Bradford pitching struggled on the mound.
The Titans started bringing in the runs and stretched the lead in the later innings. Titan Theo went three-for-three at the plate to lead the Titans in hits for the game.
The final was a 16-9 win for the Titans. It was their seventh win in a row to make for a perfect season so far and put them at the top of the standings with fourteen points.
Hurler Aiden started on the mound for the Titans, and last two innings. He allowed eight hits and eight runs while striking out six and walking one.
Titan’s pitcher, Josh, pitched two innings, allowing one hit and one run while striking out four and walking one, for the win. He recorded the last six outs of the game.
The Titans are in first place in the South Division, well ahead of the New Lowell Knights, Angus, and Bradford, who all have two points in the record so far.
It’s a short season this year, so the league is moving into the final week of the regular season.
That will be followed by a playoff series to determine this year’s division champion.
