TNT Express U12 host home opener at Mel Mitchell Athletic Field

The TNT Express are back on the gridiron for the 2022 season.

The U12 division of the club hosted the Vaughan Rebels for their home opener at Mel Mitchell Athletic Field in Beeton on Sunday, May 22.

The Express found themselves trailing early in the game when the Rebels managed to score a couple of TDs to take an early lead.

Late in the half, the Express had a good push down field led by a big run by that brought the TNT squad withing scoring distance.

They couldn’t capitalize and went to the half scoreless with Vaughan leading 18-0.

Starting the second half of the game, the Express kicked off to get the action going.

Vaughan scored another TD early in the third quarter.

Back on defensive mode, the Express had a good effort stopping the Rebels advance with some solid defensive moves.

Vaughan managed a couple more touchdowns before the Express responded with a late game TD that put them on the scoreboard.

It was a good effort by the Express U12 team, many of who have never played the game before due to the restrictions of the last two years.

The final for the game was a 48-7 win for the Rebels.

In other Express Road games, the U10 team narrowly lost to the Vaughan Rebels, 74-64, in their season opener.

The Express U12 team will have one game on the road before returning to their home field on Sunday, June 5, to host Mississauga.

Game time is 12:00 p.m.
