TNT Tornados Minor Hockey returns to the ice

After a “pause” of just over three weeks, minor hockey clubs around the province are getting back out on the ice.

Minor hockey was forced to postpone all games, practices, and hockey activities as of January 5, when restrictions were put into place by the provincial government.

As a result, arenas have been closed, leagues postponed schedules, and hockey players had to miss several regular season games.

Due to games being missed, some leagues are extending the regular season to complete all games before heading into the playoffs. This means hockey will be played later in the year as leagues complete the schedule.

Other leagues will be picking up where they left off and completing the schedule as is. For those leagues it means they will have a short season and the final standings will be determined by games played in that time frame.

TNT Tornados Minor Hockey has announced they returned to play on January 31. As of that date, rep teams and local leagues can resume practise.

House League will resume on the weekend of February 4 – 5.

With the return to play, there still are some rules that must be followed.

Players must not arrive to a game or practise more than 30 minutes before the start time.

Everyone aged 12 and over must have a QR code and a physical piece of identification for screening purposes to enter any recreational facility in Ontario. There will be no exceptions to this rule.

There will be a 50 per cent capacity limit for spectators in the arena, and masks must be worn at all times when in the facility.

TNT practices got underway on the ice at the New Tecumseth Recreation Centre on Monday, with games schedule for this week.
