Toffifee Tower Challenge raises $5,000 for SMHF

The Alliston Canadian Tire Toffifee Tower Challenge raised $5,000 in support of the Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation’s Because of You, We Can, campaign for the hospital redevelopment.

In December 2021, the Canadian Tire store challenged the community to “Deplete the Toffifee Tower” by purchasing 2,000 boxes of Toffifee, with proceeds going to SMHF.

“It always excites us when a local business wants to host a third-party fundraiser, but it’s even more special when we’re approached with a new idea or concept and we get to watch it really take off in the community,” said Melody McLean, Director of Development and Campaign Manager. “The support for this important project is really growing.”

This was the first time having the Toffifee program in Alliston. The holiday campaign has already garnered huge success in Saskatchewan where the local Canadian Tire store holds the record for highest Toffifee sales in the world.

“We, at Canadian Tire Alliston, wanted to do something to show our support for Stevenson,” said Brad O’Neill, Alliston Canadian Tire store owner. “The hospital is there for us, our families, and our employees, so we challenged our team and the community to be there for them. We started the promotion in the Fall. Toffifee was moving slow until we spoke to the SMH foundation team and together came up with the idea of a community challenge. Deplete the Toffifee Tower took off from there, selling over 2,100 boxes total.”

The Alliston Canadian Tire has been supporting SMHF since 2006 and had donated over $40,000.
