The Tottenham Beeton District Minor Softball Association held its inaugural U14 All-Star game on Sunday, Aug. 20, at Keogh Park in Tottenham, in front of the bleachers filled with friends, families, and teammates.

The idea for the All-Star game started with the players who wanted to play just one more game in the season. That idea turned into a successful event.

The six teams in the U14 Division were split into two All-Star squads, with Vince’s Marketplace, The Scissors Boutique, and Doggone Wonderful creating the AL All-Stars, and Tanner Self Storage, McGinty’s Minions, and Bolton Orthodontics making the NL All-Stars.

The players voted in representatives from their own teams.

The TBDMSA Junior Umpires called the game to start at 1:00 p.m.

The first few innings featured some stellar pitching and tight defence.

Batters started hitting and stole the show for the rest of the game. This featured multiple home runs, exceptional base running and contributions from everyone in the line-up.

While the play on the field was the big show, the camaraderie continued with the bystanders, who came out to cheer and encourage each other.

It was a good display of sportsmanship.

The AL All-Stars took a commanding lead mid-game and were able to stay in the lead, winning the game 27-16.
