The Tottenham Bluegrass Festival has been cancelled for 2027.
The Festival Board of Directors issued a statement on Monday, Oct. 26, announcing the news that the festival has been cancelled for this coming year.
“Following a careful review of the festival’s financial position, the Board of Directors has made the difficult decision that the Tottenham Bluegrass Festival will not take place in 2027,” the statement said.
“We know how much time, effort and dedication goes into making the Tottenham Bluegrass Festival happen each June. From the early planning meetings to the final camper pulling out of the conservation area, there are countless hours of work that most festival-goers never see.”
The Tottenham Bluegrass Festival has taken place at the Tottenham Conservation Area every year since 1983.
Over the years, the festival has grown to include a variety of activities such as a children’s talent show, instrument-specific workshops, and a barbecue supper and beer tent.
The festival features bluegrass bands from across North America, each playing 45-minute sets throughout the day and evening.
This format provided continuous music and the chance for the audience to experience different bands and styles of bluegrass all day long.
For many years, the main stage was located at the bottom of the hill in the park in front of the water. This created a natural amphitheatre in the park.
For the past two years, the stage has been moved to the upper level of the Tottenham Conservation Area, creating a more intimate setting for the show.
The Board of Directors have not yet made it known if this is a one-time cancellation of the festival or if there are plans to continue in the future.
The cancellation will disappoint a lot of bluegrass fans, both local and those who travelled a considerable distance to see the show and spend time camping at the conservation area.
