Tottenham Community Week kicks off this weekend

Tottenham Community Week will get underway this week with nine days of activities around town.

The week runs from June 29 to July 7 and marks 56 years of family and community spirit with this year’s week of events.

Saturday, June 29

The week kicks off with Horse Drawn Heritage Tours. This is a free event that will take you around town to view heritage homes and buildings.

It’s a 30-minute guided tour.

The rides start at 1 p.m. at Keogh Park and continue every half hour with the final ride at 3:30 p.m.

Sunday, June 30

There will be 365 Pro Wrestling a the Tottenham Community Centre. Admission is free with a donation to the local food bank.

The wrestling event gets underway at 2:30 p.m. with a meet-and-greet followed by pro wrestling at 3:30 p.m.

Also on Sunday is the Guided Ghost Walk. This historic walk takes you to Tottenham’s most haunted homes and paranormal sites.

Guides will provide carefully researched and historically accurate tales of bank robbery, animal ghosts, and an eerie child haunting a home hidden by progress.

Those looking to participate in the Guided Ghost Walk can meet at the main doors of the Taste of Freedom Inn, 24 Mill Street West, for the first walk at 7 p.m. That walk is for all ages. The second walk starts at 9 p.m. and is for people ages 12 and up.

The walk winds through town, making several stops throughout the downtown core of Tottenham.

Monday, July 1

You can celebrate the nation’s birthday at the Tottenham Conservation Area.

There will be live bands, an escape room, and family activities. The event gets underway at 4 p.m. The day ends with a fireworks show at the park. 

Tuesday, July 2

You can experience a Walk Down Memory Lane in the Lion’s Room at the Community Centre.

You will discover local history through stories told by long-time Tottenham residents.

This is a free event. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. with a panel discussion at 7 p.m.

Wednesday, July 3

Put on your running shoes and take part in the Honeyfield Communities 2k and 5k fun run at the Conservation Area.

The 2k run will take place at 7 p.m. followed by the 5k run at 7:30 p.m.

Thursday, July 4

Have fun at the TCW Trivia Takedown and Dungeons and Dragons Open House.

This will take place upstairs at the Tottenham Legion from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Admission is $10.

Friday, July 5

It’s time to relax at the Honda Movie Night in the Park. There will be some fun activities taking place before the movie.

The movie being screened is titled Elemental

The event takes place at Keogh Park at 7 p.m.

Admission is free.

Saturday, July 6

On July 6, the big event will be the Tottenham Street Festival. This will shut down the main streets of town for this wildly popular all-day event.

On the same day, you can take a ride on the Tottenham Steam Train. Admission is by food bank donation. You must book your spot on the train ahead of time by visiting the Community Week website: tottenhamcommunityweek.ca

Sunday, July 7

The final day of Community Week will feature the annual Family Fishing Derby at the pond at the Conservation Area.

Registration begins at 7 a.m. and runs to 10 a.m.

Trophies will be given for the most fish, smallest fish, and largest fish.

This is an all-ages event. Bait will be provided but bring your own fishing rod.

This is a shoreline fishing derby only – no boats, canoes or kayaks will qualify.
