Tottenham No Frills planned for the fall

May 20, 2021   ·   0 Comments

After much speculation over the past few years by local residents, No Frills has confirmed it will be building a new grocery store on Mill Street in Tottenham.

The location is surrounded by a new subdivision and has been wide open since work on the new homes was completed.

The location is dubbed Mill Street Village and is at the east of Mill Street.

The Loblaw company confirmed that construction on the new building is scheduled to get underway soon, but no definite date was given.

Work is already taking place at the site going into the pre-construction phase. The parking lot is mostly in place with curbing installed.

There is already one building on the site with several units including a dentist office, a Pharmasave, and an optometrist office.

Eventually the plaza is planned to have five buildings on site.

The new store will be Tottenham’s third grocery store adding to Foodland on Queen Street, and Vince’s Market at the Tottenham Mall.

No Frills is a Canadian chain of discount supermarkets owned by Loblaws. There are over 200 franchise stores located in nine provinces across the country.

As the name implies, a No Frills store is not a full service supermarket and lacks fancy displays and shelving.

Expect items to still be in the box on industrial type shelving with other items still displayed on wooden creates in the aisle.

Typically No Frills stores require you to pack your own bags and there were be minimal staff available to help you if you are looking for an item.

The business model, according to corporate, is to keep expenses down and pass that savings on to customers.

The Tottenham store is schedule to open in fall 2021.
