The Greater Metro Hockey League is moving into the playoffs with the Division quarter-finals getting underway on Feb. 20.
All 15 teams in the League are eligible for a playoff berth.
The North and South Divisions will play within their respective divisions to determine each Divisional champion. Once each division has a champion, the North and South Division winners will play a best-of-seven series to determine the Russel Cup champion for the 2024 season.
In the South Division, all eight teams will enter the playoffs. In the seven-team North Division, the first and second-place teams will receive a ‘bye’ to advance to the second round.
In each playoff series, the top seed will get a home-ice advantage to start the series.
The Tottenham Railers will meet the St. George Ravens in their division quarter-final series. The series will be a best-of-three match-up, so both teams will have to bring their best game to the ice. One bad game can end their season.
Both Tottenham and St. George finished the regular season as middle-of-the-pack teams with similar records.
Tottenham ended the season with a 19-22 record including two overtime losses – good for 40 points.
St. George finished with a 19-21 record including two overtime losses.
The North York Renegades finished the season as the top team in the South Division with a 32-7 record and 66 points.
Once the quarter-final round is complete, the South Division will enter the semi-final round of the playoffs for a best-of-five series.
The semi-finals will get underway on Feb. 27.
