If you are hoping to stay active during the winter months while enjoying a physical activity or sport, the Town of New Tecumseth offers programs at local recreation centres. These programs allow you to take part in a sport at a recreational level.
The drop-in programs feature a variety of activities for youth, families, and adults, at a nominal fee.
If you love basketball, there are drop-in games for both adults and youth held in the gym at the Tottenham Community and Fitness Centre throughout the winter months. Basketball games are taking place on a variety of days and times through to the end of March.
Pickleball is a relatively new sport in Ontario that combines elements of tennis and table tennis and has become very popular with clubs and groups springing up across the province.
The Tottenham Community Centre hosts several days for pickleball enthusiasts and it is geared towards adults.
Adult volleyball is also available and scheduled on various days and times.
The Tottenham Community Centre offers adult badminton on several days at various times. You can sign up and play a few sets during a time slot that fits into your schedule.
For those that really like an active sport, there are drop-in soccer games available.
Soccer games take place on the artificial turf at the field house at the New Tecumseth Recreation Centre in Alliston.
There are days for adult soccer, youth soccer, as well as family days.
You can find out more and register by visiting the Town website and visiting the Recreation Programs page.
