Town offers rebate program for rain barrels

April 21, 2022   ·   0 Comments

The Town of New Tecumseth is promoting the conservation of water by encouraging home owners to install rain barrels on their property.

Funds have been set aside for a rebate initiative and interested citizens can apply for participation.

The Town will provide a one-time financial incentive in the form of a refund on the cost of the purchase of a rain barrel.

This program covers one rain barrel per property with a refund of 50 per cent of the purchase costs, exclusive of taxes or other charges. The maximum allowable refund is $50.

For example, if the purchase cost of a rain barrel is $80, the resident will be eligible for a 50 percent refund at $40.

Original receipts will be required to process the refund and must be submitted prior to the end of the calendar year. Processing of the rebate will take six to eight weeks.

Applications for the rebate must be submitted to the Town’s Public Works Department via e-mail or in person at the Joint Operations Centre at 6558 8th line in Beeton.

Applications for the rain barrel rebate are available on the Town’s website at: www.newtecumseth.ca.
