The Town of New Tecumseth is undertaking a Schedule B Municipal Class Environmental Assessment for the addition of two water booster pumping stations.
The Town of New Tecumseth owns and operates a 57-kilometre water transmission main that transports treated water from the Raymond A. Barker Water Treatment Plant in Collingwood to the Parsons Road Reservoir in Alliston, with additional supply connections to New Lowell, Baxter, and Angus.
In 2016, the town completed a Water Supply, Distribution and Storage Master Plan which identified the preferred strategy to provide security of water supply and to accommodate growth needs in Alliston, Beeton, and Tottenham.
The master plan identifies the need for two new Booster Pumping Stations on the New Tecumseth water transmission main.
The water transmission main was designed with provisions for future connection of up to four booster pumping stations. Booster Station #1 is required to increase capacity in the short term and is being planned in coordination with the RAB WTP Expansion.
