Town seeking public input on future development

New Tecumseth has been designated as a growth area by the province and over the next few decades, the area’s population will rise.

To accommodate that growth, there will be a lot of development within the town.

The town is undertaking a review of its Urban Design Guidelines and is asking for public input to ensure it’s on the right path to developing healthy complete communities. This includes input on if communities can be designed to meet the needs of all residents despite age or ability.

The province has an agenda of intensification that aims to place more people in smaller areas to reduce the cost of infrastructure and increase the tax base. This has increased the number of townhouse-style developments and smaller lots for single-family homes.

Information sessions will be hosted by the town to ask residents what they like or don’t like about urban design in communities or urban design in general.

You can submit your opinion or story and photos to the Urban Design Team through the Town’s website.

Submissions may be featured on the project website. You can post anonymously if you choose.

The first public information session will be held on Thursday, Dec. 8, at the Tottenham Community Centre.
