Town’s winter recreation and culture programs open for registration

Winter is here, and so are the Town of New Tecumseth’s winter programs.

Whether you are looking for creative activities, active fun, or new learning adventures, there is a program for everyone.

Toddler programs

Toddler programs for ages 1.5 to 5 years are designed to blend physical activity with educational enrichment.

These programs offer a dynamic and engaging experience that focuses on promoting motor skill building while fostering cognitive development and social skills.

Little Sprouts

The Little Sprouts program for ages 2.4 to 4 emulates the kindergarten experience by providing a child-led, play-based program that supports healthy child development and kindergarten readiness.

Children must be able to be dropped off and participate independently. Children must be toilet-trained.

Play and Learn

The Play and Learn program for ages 1.5 to 2.5 introduces children to circle time and literacy and reinforces social and emotional skills by giving them the opportunity to engage in developmentally appropriate learning stations and activities.

This program is designed for parents to join their child and take part together.

The fee is for the child only.

Busy Bees

The Busy Bees program for ages 1.5 to 2.5 encourages the development of social, cognitive, and motor skills, as well as autonomy, as children and their caregivers explore a variety of activities and equipment with other participants.

This program is designed for parents to join their child and take part together.

Fees are for the child only.

Movement Monkeys

Movement Monkeys is for ages 2.5 to 3.5, and encourages the development of social, cognitive, and motor skills, along with autonomy, as children and their caregivers explore a variety of activities and equipment with other participants.

This program provides an opportunity for caregivers and their children to work on gradual separation in preparation for independent programs in later years.

Energy Blasters

The Energy Blasters program for ages 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 is designed to get you up, moving, and having fun with a variety of high-energy group games and movement activities.

Each session is filled with action-packed games that promote fitness and coordination.

Welcome to Art Adventure

For ages 4 to 5, the Welcome to Art Adventures is an introductory art program where participants and their caregiver will expand their artistic world together as they explore a variety of art forms.

Each week, the little artists will try new art mediums and participate in a tutorial-style walkthrough, completing a masterpiece that, once dry, can be brought home.  

Welcome to Wacky Science

The Welcome to Wacky Science program for ages 3 to 5 explores the way the world works.

In this fun, introductory program, your child will participate in a variety of experiments with you as they learn about the scientific method.

The program serves as a provocation to build on the child’s interest and spark curiosity.
