Two-storey home catches fire in New Tecumseth, no injuries sustained

Nottawasaga Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers and New Tecumseth Fire Rescue members responded to a structure fire in Alliston on Jan. 8.
Shortly before 6 p.m., Nottawasaga OPP responded to a report of a two-storey home on fire in the area of Buchanan Drive in New Tecumseth.
Upon arrival, the New Tecumseth Fire Rescue had already made entry into the home to combat the fire.
There was a total of two people home at the time, and no injuries were reported.
The fire did not spread to the nearby residences and was put out shortly after emergency services arrived.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time and the investigation into the cause is ongoing.
It is not considered to be suspicious.
Buchanan Drive was temporarily closed until the fire was put out, and re-opened at 8:30 p.m.
The family will be staying with friends and family temporarily due to the damage and flooding into the basement.
