Visit with animals and take a tour at the local Humane Society’s open house

The Alliston & District Humane Society is hosting an open house to allow visitors to meet the animals under their care and tour the facilities.

It will also be an opportunity to meet the volunteers who care for all the dogs, cats, and other animals that are currently at the shelter.

If you are thinking about adopting a pet, this may be an opportunity to meet your new furry friend, however, you may have to schedule another meeting to finalize an adoption.

The open house will take place on Sunday, Dec. 4, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The Humane Society is also holding a Holiday Supply Drive. This is an annual event to collect and stock up on shelter needs.

If you are out shopping, consider picking up an extra item for the shelter.

The shelter has a variety of needs for dogs and cats including food and other assorted items needed to keep the animals healthy and safe.

There is also a need for supplies for the small animals the shelter is looking after.

Donations can be left at Pet Valu Alliston, Pet Valu Angus, or you can drop them off right at the shelter daily between 9:00 a.m and 4:00 p.m.

While you’re there, you can pick up a copy of the shelter’s 2023 calendar. This 12-month calendar is full of pictures and stories of animals that have been helped and cared for at the shelter.

The shelter will also be offering the opportunity to have your holiday photos taken with your pet.

Photos will be taken on Saturday, Dec. 3, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. All proceeds support the Alliston & District Humane Society. This photo shoot will take place outside so it will depend on the weather. You can book your time for your photo online.
