With the upcoming municipal election on Oct. 26, we invited each candidate to respond to the same four questions about their reason for running, priorities and vision for the municipality, qualifications, and contact information. Their responses are published below as submitted, subject only to length and standard copy editing for style, grammar and clarity.
Candidates were asked to keep their responses focused on their own qualifications, priorities and vision for the municipality.
1) What are the largest issues facing the Town of New Tecumseth?
As New Tecumseth continues to grow, the council’s job will be to ensure the infrastructure and services match that growth.
Residents should feel growth is being managed responsibly. This requires listening to residents, protecting tax dollars, and protecting the qualities that make New Tecumseth a great place to call home.
22) With development being mandated by the province and causing concern among residents, how should council approach development and growth?
Growth needs to be planned responsibly. Residents have concerns regarding OPA 5 (Growth Plan Expansion) and whether infrastructure and services can keep up while keeping property taxes in check.
Council must advocate for its residents while working with developers and provincial partners to ensure the growth strengthens our communities.
3) What experience and leadership qualities do you have that make you the right choice for residents’ votes?
I have been a resident of New Tecumseth for 30 years. My wife and I have raised our 3 beautiful daughters here, and we care deeply about our community.
Through my professional experience in health and safety, I have developed strong skills in problem-solving, risk management, and making practical, evidence-based decisions.
I will bring that same common-sense approach to the council chambers. I will listen to residents and work to ensure New Tecumseth remains a safe, affordable, and fantastic place to live.
