The Alliston Hornets remain undefeated after posting two wins over the weekend and are in first place in the North Carruthers Division of the Provincial Junior Hockey League.

Returning to the New Tecumseth Recreation Centre after playing six road games, the Hornets hosted Innisfil Spartans on Friday, Oct. 24.

The game was pretty much over by the end of the first period when the Hornets scored four unanswered goals to lead 4-0 with two periods left to go.

First period goals game from Jax Bellwood, Will Hopcraft, and two from Duncan Grube.

Alliston forward Noah Larmon scored at 33 seconds into the second period.

The Spartans got their only goal of the game at 1:18 into the frame.

Grube got the hattrick for the night when he got his third goal at the 6:20 mark into the period.

Jacob English finished off the second period scoring at 14:49.

The game ended with a final goal from Jax Belwood midway in the third period to give the Hornets an 8-1 win.

The squad was back on home ice after playing three games in three nights the previous weekend.

“We’ve have some guys that are hurt right now, so that makes it difficult,” said Hornets head coach Dan Schaly of the team playing three back-to-back games. “We had to call some APs up.”

The Hornets looked well disciplined in Friday’s game.

“Confidence on the team is really good,” Schaly said. “We’ve got new systems and a structure on the team. They bought in and its really paid a lot of dividends, seeing how the team fits together. We have a really good team bond. The veterans have really welcomed the new guys in and tried to create a family atmosphere. Our focus is playing hard and well every game and looking to playoffs, and playing for that.”

The Hornets travelled to Midland on Sunday, Oct. 26, to take on the Flyers.

At the end of the second period, it was a 4-1 Alliston game.

The goals were match in the third period with both teams getting two.

The final was a 6-3 Alliston win.

They now have a 13-game winning streak behind them.

The Hornets will return to home ice at the New Tecumseth Recreation Centre on Friday, Oct. 31, when they will host the Penetang Kings.

Game time is 7:30 p.m.
