If you require parking close to an entranceway and need an accessible parking permit, you can renew or change your information either online or by mail.

An accessible parking permit is issued to an individual person, not a vehicle. If you use an accessible parking permit, you must display your permit with the number and expiry date visible on the dashboard or sun visor of the vehicle you are using.

Only the person named on the permit can use it to park in an accessible parking space. If a person who is not identified on the permit used the permit without the permit holder in the vehicle, it can result in fines of up to $5,000 and the permit may be seized.

You can renew your accessible parking permit if you have a health condition that meets the required criteria, or if a company or organization owns or leases vehicles to transport individuals with accessibility needs and you meet the criteria.

If your regulated healthcare practitioner has certified that your disability is permanent, you do not need to be recertified.

If your disability is temporary or subject to change and your accessible parking permit has expired, your regulated healthcare practitioner must recertify your health condition before you can apply for another permit.

You may renew your permit online if you have an existing permanent permit or do not need recertification from a regulated healthcare practitioner. You can also renew online if you have a ‘subject-to-change’ or temporary permit and have received certification from your healthcare provider, or consent from Service Ontario verifying the information you have provided.

To renew online you will need the permit holder’s full name, date of birth, gender, mailing and residential address, phone number, and e-mail. You will also need the person’s driver’s licence number and currently accessible parking permit information.

You can also renew your permit in person by visiting a ServiceOntario Centre. Make sure to bring your accessible parking permit form with identity documents.

If you want to renew by mail, you will be required to send copies of your identification, full name, date of birth, and signature. Do not send the original documents by mail.

There is no cost to either obtain or renew an accessible parking permit.
