When the kids aren’t in school because of a PA or PD day, they can still stay active and learn something new at the Tiffin Centre.
The Centre provides special camp days for when the kids don’t have to be in the classroom.
There’s a new camp day coming up at the end of January.
The camp is located in Utopia, just outside of Angus.
A fun and educational program, kids will focus on hands-on activities in which young explorers discover the variety of species and spaces at the over 300-acre Tiffin Centre for Conservation.
The Centre for Conservation features a mixture of wetlands, forests, open meadows, and ancient lake beds, providing homes for many species of plants and animals.
At Camp Tiffin, kids will enjoy lots of physical activity and be mentally stimulated as they explore the ever-changing scenery and landscapes. This will keep them away from excessive screen time and learn how to integrate nature into their everyday lives.
Facilitated by two environmental educators, all programs will have eight campers per group.
Adopted from the Centre’s traditional summer camp program, this special edition of Camp Tiffin encourages outdoor exploration and guided excursions in the forest fuelled by student interest.
The day will be guided by student inquiry, seasonal changes, and weather/program availability.
Program activities include hiking, geocaching, nature games, shelter building, and wilderness survival.
If your child will be attending, be sure to have them dressed appropriately for outdoor winter activity. Check the Nottawasaga Valley Conservation Authority’s website for a list of needed clothing and accessories.
Make sure you leave cell phones and other valuable items at home. These types of devices have a habit of falling out of pockets and getting lost in the woods.
The next date for a Camp Tiffin PA/PD day is Friday, Jan. 27.
You can register online through a computer – registration is currently not available through mobile devices.
