The Town of New Tecumseth has initiated a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment to assess the need for improvements to the Victoria Street West, Young Street, Albert Street, and King Street intersections within the Alliston Connecting Link.
The study will examine existing and future transportation conditions and evaluate potential solutions to improve safety, efficiency, connectivity and the movement of people through the corridor.
The study will also consider the existing 300-metre job along King Street which interrupts the otherwise continuous east-west connection of Highway 89.
The study is being completed under the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment process and will consider environmental, social, cultural, technical and financial factors.
Community input will play an important role in identifying issues, evaluating alternatives and helping to inform the preferred solution.
At this stage, no preferred solution has been selected.
Residents, businesses, property owners, agencies, Indigenous communities and other interested stakeholders are invited to share their local knowledge, concerns and ideas related to transportation, traffic operations, safety, accessibility, active transportation, transit, and overall corridor function.
Feedback received throughout the study will be documented and considered as part of the decision-making process.
The project webpage will serve as the primary source of information throughout the study. Future updates, study materials, Public Information Centre details and opportunities to provide input will be posted as they become available.
