It all came down to the third period when the Tottenham Railers hosted the Meaford Knights at the Tottenham Community Centre arena on Saturday, Jan. 31.
At the end of the first period, the teams had played to a 2-2 tie.
The Railers opened the scoring on a goal from Tristan Lavoie. Meaford matched the goal two and a half minutes later.
Tottenham scored at 14:02 into the first period when Artsiom Bialiayev scored on a powerplay.
It was again a tie game when the Knights scored with 1:12 left on the clock in the first period.
Railers forward Matvei Novik scored at 3:24 in the second period. It was a short-lived lead when Meaford scored just two minutes later to make it a 3-3 game with one period remaining.
The Railers ran into trouble in the third period when Meaford scored three goals before the Railers could respond.
Railers forward Felix-Antoine Huard scored the final goal of the game at 12:09 into the third period.
The Railers had to settle for a 6-4 loss.
Tottenham is in fourth place in the North Division of the Greater Metro Hockey League with a 19-20 loss, including one overtime loss.
The Railers will be back on home ice at the Tottenham Community Centre on Saturday, Feb. 7, when they will host the Bradford Rattlers.
