The new commander at CFB Borden is an Iraq and Afghanistan veteran who took over command of the base on July 29.
Col. Adam Moore was officially named commander of CFB Borden and the Military Personnel Generation Training Group, taking over from Col. Melissa Ramessar, who served as commander since 2024.
Col. Moore is an infantry officer who has served on several overseas tours, including deployments to Bosnia-Herzegovina, Afghanistan, and Iraq.
CFB Borden was established in 1916 to train units for the Canadian Expeditionary Force in the First World War.
At around 24 square miles, the base has a 3,000-acre training base and a 17,000-acre training area. It employs 3,250 military personnel and 1,500 civilians.
CFB Borden trains around 20,000 military personnel annually.
