The North Dufferin Baseball League senior championship series is tied after the opening games over the weekend.

In this year’s championship, the New Lowell Knights are up against the Bolton Brewers.

The series got underway on Saturday, Sept. 12, in New Lowell.

In Game 1, the first three innings were highlighted by strong pitching and solid defensive play.

It wasn’t until the fourth inning that any scoring took place, with both clubs scoring a single run.

The Knights scored five runs in the sixth inning. After capitalizing on a walk, a hit-by-pitch, and a base hit, Tristan Cabral doubled to drive in three runs. Chris Greer singled to bring in two more runs.

New Lowell pitcher Brandon Norrie limited Bolton’s opportunities in the seventh inning to secure the 6-1 win for the Knights.

In Game 2 of the series held in Bolton on Sept. 13, the Brewers started things off early when they scored six runs over the first two innings.

The Knights did not get on the scoreboard until the fourth inning when they scored their lone run before Bolton added three more runs in the fifth inning.

New Lowell added three runs in the sixth inning after Bolton replaced starting pitcher Paul Cota with reliever Matteo Stother.

The Brewers responded with a home run by Josh Hickey and another run from Logan Hart in the bottom of the sixth to maintain a commanding lead.

Zack Hayward hit a solo home run in the seventh inning for the Knights.

The Brewers won 11-5 to tie the series, ensuring it will go at least five games.

With the competitive nature of this series with two talented teams, there’s a good chance this series could go the full distance.

The series continued with Game 3 on Thursday, Sept. 17, in Bolton.

Game 4 will take place in New Lowell on Saturday, Sept. 19, with a 1 p.m. start.
