The Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police is investigating the discovery of human remains in Thornton.
Shortly before 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 2, officers were called to a residence on the 10th Line in Thornton after human remains were located on the property.
The preliminary information suggests this is an isolated incident with no signs of a broader threat.
Police continue to monitor the situation.
Local residents can expect to see an increased police presence as the investigation progresses.
The Nottawasaga OPP Crime Unit is conducting this investigation under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and Ontario Forensic Pathology Service. Assistance is being provided by the OPP’s Emergency Response Team, Canine Unit and Forensic Identification Services.
