The province is providing $95,627 in Seniors Community Grant Projects across Simcoe-Grey, with over $20,000 going to New Tecumseth.
Simcoe-Grey MPP Brian Saunderson made the announcement on Friday, Aug. 14.
The funding is part of a $7 million commitment from the province to protect seniors and older adults by supporting over 320 community projects that help them to stay fit, active, healthy and socially connected.
“These investments will support programs that create meaningful opportunities for seniors across Simcoe-Grey to participate and remain engage in their communities,” MPP Saunderson said.
“I’m pleased to see nearly $96,000 supporting four local projects that will enhance the quality of life of older adults. Thank you to the dedicated staff and volunteers who make theses programs possible and help build stronger, more connected communities.”
Locally, the funding will be distributed as follows:
• Town of New Tecumseth: $20,337 – Seniors’ Connected to Community – A community care program for older adults in New Tecumseth

“We are pleased to provide investments for so many services and activities that bring seniors together, learn new skills, get fit, and stay connected to their neighbours and friends.”
Up to $25,000 per project is invested in local services, activities and events to provide seniors with opportunities for greater social inclusion, volunteerism and community engagement.
