The Stewart Street off-leash dog park in Beeton will be receiving some upgrades to improve the park’s overall usability.
The park has had long-standing drainage concerns with some low-laying areas collecting water during wet and rainy days.
Construction began on Sept. 8, with the southeastern portion of the park closed until spring 2026 to allow hydro-seeded areas to be fully established and stabilized.
The work is expected to take around five weeks and includes a series of upgrades.
The fence between the small and large dog areas will be temporarily removed to allow access for construction equipment and grading.
Internal pathways will be closed during construction to ensure safety and allow for equipment movement.
There will be drainage improvements in low-lying areas that frequently collect water.
Heavy equipment will be used on the site to transport fill and mulch.
Select areas at the park will be hydro-seeded to encourage healthy grass growth and restore green space.
Approximately 75 per cent of the park will be covered with mulch to enhance drainage and comfort once the elevation work is complete.
The improvements to the park are expected to be completed by Oct. 13.
