The Alliston Hornets have moved back into second place after a win over the Stayner Siskins on Stayner home ice on Thursday, Nov. 9.

Alliston had dropped to third the previous week, but the two points moved them up a notch.

Thursday’s game saw a strong start for the Alliston team.

Cole Turcotte scored the only goal of the first period on an assist from Mark Coish.

The Hornets took a three-goal lead in the second period.

Darin Bain hit the back of the Siskins net at 2:19 into the period. That was followed by Turcotte’s second goal of the night, a 13:07 in the frame.

The Siskins were on the scoreboard with a goal at 13:49 into the second period.

In the third period, Nathan Windle scored for the Hornets to make it a 4-1 game.

Stayner had a good rally, scoring twice to close the gap, then worked to tie it up.

That wouldn’t happen as Windle got his second of the game with 22 seconds left on the clock.

The Hornets left the ice with a 5-3 win.

After the weekend, the Orillia Terriers remain in first place in the North Carruthers Division with 28

points. In second place, the Hornets have 26 points.

The Siskins have dropped to third place with 24 points.

The Schomberg Cougars are close behind, with 23 points recorded so far.

Penetang is in the number six spot, followed by Huntsville, Innisfil, and Midland.

The Hornets will be back on home ice on Friday, Nov. 17, when they will host the Huntsville Otters.

Game time is 7:30 p.m.
