The Alliston Hornets are 6-0 after a win over the Innsifil Spartans in an away game on Friday, Oct. 11.
The Hornets took a 3-0 lead in the first period on goals from Jaeden French, Jacob Holmes, and Duncan Grube.
Innisfil scored late in the period with just under two minutes left on the clock.
French got his second of the night at 10:05 into the second period. That was followed by Holmes scoring his second of the night at the 15:39 mark.
That gave the Hornets a 5-1 lead with one period remaining.
Innisfil scored in the third period to make it a 5-2 game.
Alliston forward David Harvey got a late goal with just over three minutes remaining in the game.
Innisfil scored the final goal of the night at 16:40 into the period.
The final was a 6-3 win for the Alliston squad.
After six games, the Hornets are undefeated for the season and are in third place.
The Stayner Siskins have moved into first place with 16 points and an 8-1 record. Their only loss this season was to the Hornets on Sept. 27.
The Orillia Terriers are in second place with a 6-1-1 record and 13 points.
After eight games, the Penetang Kings and Innisfil Spartans are tied for fourth place.
They are followed by the Huntsville Otters, Muskoka Bears and the Midland Flyers.
The Hornets have a strong team this year with a lot of returning veteran players.
Coach Jacob Baauchman said that many of the players are eligible for two more years, so he expects the team to remain consistent for the next couple of years.
New players this season include several players who have come from higher-level hockey and are expected to be real contributors to this season.
The Hornets will be back on home ice on Friday, Oct. 18 to host the Penetang Kings at the New Tecumseth Recreation Centre.
