The 20th anniversary Kevin Lord Memorial Spring Classic golf tournament took place at Bear Creek Golf & Country Club on Saturday, May 30.
This year, 152 golfers enjoyed a nice, warm and sunny day, which contrasted with the windy and cool conditions of last year’s tournament.
“As always, it was really nice to see a few new teams enter this year and everyone reunite again and socialize with old and new friends, whose kind support help us to keep our son Kevin’s memory alive in supporting our main beneficiaries,” said tournament organizer Al Lord. “These beneficiaries include the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada and Campfire Circle – a camp for kids with cancer – as well as other worthy causes.”
The tournament featured various prizes on the fairways.
“We would again like to thank everyone who participated in this year’s tournament and also our sponsors who help to make this tournament a success every year,” Lord said.
“For the first time in our golf tournament history we had a hole-in-one contest for a grand prize of $30,000. The contest was sponsored by one of our original long time faithful sponsors, Don and Rose Findlay and Family. We truly thank the Findlay family for helping to make our tournament a little more exciting. Unfortunately, we did not have a winner, but everyone definitely had fun trying to win. We would also like to thank Bear Creek Golf Club and all their staff for their hospitality, the excellent banquet buffet dinner they provided, and their organization in helping again with this year’s tournament.”
Tournament prize winners include Ladies’ Closest to the Pin – Andrea Davidson; Men’s Closest to the Pin – Jeff Audett; Ladies’ Longest Drive – Andrea Davidson; Men’s Longest Drive – Tanner Dockerty; and closest to the fairway Line – Adam Patton.
The tournament-winning team with a score of 59 (-11) was Tim McKibbon, Jeff Audette, Nas Brejani, and Kobi Brejani.
Congratulations to Kevin True, the winner of the draw for a pair of Toronto Maple Leaf tickets.
All proceeds from the draw will go to the Stevenson Memorial Hospital’s new building expansion fund.
The tournament will return next year and again be held on the last Saturday in May.
