Ahead of the upcoming municipal election set for next month, the New Tecumseth Times reached out to all Council candidates to learn more about who they are and what they hope to bring to the 2022 – 2026 Council table.
Here’s how our Ward 5 candidates responded.

Residents want experienced leaders with successful track records. Family and friends remind me that when I sat on Council (2014-2018), we had many notable accomplishments; they encouraged me to run again to address the new challenges facing New Tecumseth.
Today, public safety is the highest priority. We need to get Fire Station #4 built to reduce Emergency Services response time to Ward 5 residents. Paving our roads and tackling aggressive driving is crucial to improving road safety.
Moreover, New Tecumseth must invest in diverse and inclusive recreational programs and facilities so everyone can stay healthy and active.

I’ve seen a wonderful and expansive transformation in our community over the past 15 years. I believe greater inclusivity and broader representation of all residents is required at council. As such, I wish to give a voice to all those who feel left out and to uplift the lives of all Ward 5 residents.
My top three issues are: More thought given to economic development and with a focus on job creation. Keeping property taxes low. Costs of goods and services are increasing and we must hold the line on increasing taxes for families, as well as have improved road safety and public transit – access to public transit within the ward.

I will be a voice of reason at a time when inflation is on the rise and taxpayers are being burdened with more and more government spending.
I believe that Ward 5 should be represented by a resident who lives in Ward 5.
My priority for the town is sustainable development where taxpayers are not subsidizing developers.
Roads, road infrastructure and traffic management are at the top of my to-do list for Ward 5.
