If you are looking for activities to keep the kids busy during the March break, the Nottawasaga Valley Conservation Authority (NVCA) is hosting March Break Camp Tiffin.
This is an outdoor camp designed to connect children to the environment.
Led by NVCA’s environmental educators, the camp is for kids aged five to twelve. They will learn about how they are connected to, and rely on the environment.
The camp is held at the Tiffin Centre for Conservation – an outdoor facility of over 300 acres.
While kids will enjoy lunch and breaks outdoors, the majority of activities will take place outdoors, so you must make sure kids are properly dressed with warm clothing and proper boots. This includes waterproof boots, waterproof mittens, a winter hat, snow pants, and dressing in layers to keep warm.
People are encouraged to leave valuables, including cell phones at home. These items can easily fall out of pockets and be lost in the woods.
Activities at the camp include nature walks and forest exploration, winter games and crafts, shelter building, and snowshoeing and kick sledding. Also included is animal tracking and bird watching and learning about maple syrup.
On colder days, activities may move indoors to warm up, doing wooden crafts and investigating nature artifacts.
Camp Tiffin is open from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Extended care is available from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
You can visit the NVCA website to register for the camp.
